FRP building products boost " digital economy powerhouse construction"!

On May 30, at the press conference on the major achievements of the closing ceremony of the "2023 Zhongguancun Forum", the General Office of the Beijing Municipal People's Government released the "Implementation Plan for Beijing to Accelerate the Construction of a Globally Influential Artificial Intelligence Innovation Source (2023-2025) ". It emphasizes that "it is necessary to efficiently promote the construction of new computing power infrastructure: include new computing power construction projects into the computing power partnership plan, and accelerate the construction of Beijing Artificial Intelligence Public Computing Power Center and Beijing Digital Economy Computing Power Center in Haidian District and Chaoyang District.”


In order to promote the digitalization process in our country, in 2022, the National Development and Reform Commission jointly issued a document with multiple departments, agreeing to launch national computing power hubs in 8 places including Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, the Yangtze River Delta, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Chengdu-Chongqing, Inner Mongolia, Guizhou, Gansu, and Ningxia Node construction, while further planning to set up 10 national data center clusters in the computing power hub, specifically responsible for the construction of large and ultra-large data centers, marking the official launch of the "Digital from East to Computation from West" project.

The development of digital economy is closely related to the construction and operation of data centers. The increase in the scale of data centers will directly promote the improvement of digital economy and GDP, but data centers are also faced with a variety of acute problems such as huge energy consumption, high temperature and easy downtime, and high maintenance costs.


The data shows that in 2021, the electricity consumption of national data centers will reach 216.6 billion kilowatt-hours, accounting for about 2.6% of the country's total electricity consumption and 1.8 times that of Beijing's annual electricity consumption. At present, our country's power structure is still dominated by coal-fired power generation. In the data center power supply structure, thermal power accounts for more than 70%, which not only causes a lot of energy consumption, but also brings a lot of greenhouse gases and other pollutants emission. This runs counter to the goal of "carbon neutrality and carbon peak" put forward by our country.


Simultaneously, traditional data centers are generally located in highly secure buildings with a large number of servers, storage and network equipment inside, and provide support for many online services. During the operation of the data center, a huge amount of heat will be generated, which must be maintained in a specific temperature range through the cooling system, and the temperature of the data center is closely related to the external environment. In July 2022, the high temperature in London reached a record high of 42°C. Due to the impact of the high temperature, the cooling system of the Oracle and Google data centers in London failed, causing the temperature inside the data center to become higher and higher. Finally, the system automatically took protective measures to shut down operations, resulting in long-term delays in the data usage of some users.
